Applications are Now Available for the 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

Incoming high school seniors can now apply online for the 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship administered by The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County. Applicants must be residents of Delaware County, Ind., and attend an accredited high school in Delaware County.

WHO CAN APPLY?

High school seniors who are full-time Delaware County residents and attend an accredited high school in Delaware County are eligible to apply. The purpose of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program in Delaware County is to award a student with leadership potential who is community-minded and well-rounded. The program is highly competitive.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Visit The Community Foundation’s online scholarship application page. You’ll need to create an account and then begin your application.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY?

Completing your application can take time. Get started early. It takes time to complete essays and other long-form questions. You’ll fill out an activity form that highlights your athletic, club, volunteer, employment, and other extracurricular activities. You’ll also need two letters of recommendation from trusted adults. You will not have to submit any tax documentation to be eligible for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

WHEN IS MY APPLICATION DUE?

Applications and all supporting materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by Monday, September 16, 2024.

WHERE DOES THE FUNDING COME FROM?

Lilly Endowment Inc. created the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program for the 1997-98 school year and has supported the program every year since with tuition grants totaling more than $486 million. More than 5,000 Indiana students have received Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships since the program’s inception. Lilly Endowment partners with Independent Colleges of Indiana and local community foundations to administer the awards.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP?

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is announced in December following the application deadline. Notifications are made in person when possible. You will have to provide follow-up information to receive your award.

HOW DO I GET MY AWARD MONEY?

Scholarship payments are sent to your post-secondary education college or university.


The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship in Muncie and Delaware County awards a student who possesses leadership potential, who is well-rounded and community-minded. The scholarship covers tuition and required fees for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a bachelor’s degree at any accredited Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university. Additionally, the scholarship provides a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment.

Applications must be completed by Monday, September 16, 2024. Through their applications, students will demonstrate their persistence and grit. The application requires students to respond to five essay prompts and obtain two letters of recommendation from non-family adults in their lives. Two finalists are selected for Delaware County. Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. (ICI), the statewide administrator for the scholarship, reviews all finalists. Recipients are announced in December.

In addition to the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship, The Community Foundation administers scholarships to support post-secondary education. Community-minded donors established over 50 scholarship funds and set the criteria for the awards. Scholarships are awarded to students participating in various activities, with a wide range of grade-point averages, from schools across Delaware County. Awards vary by scholarship. Applications for all other scholarships will be made available in December 2024 at cfmdin.org/students.
